Unknown Death Of Female Apisto. Cacatuoides

Hi folks

I'm looking for some advice.

I purchased a stunning pair of apisto. cacatuoides triple red pair about 2 weeks ago now from a well known ebay breeder and seller. Fantastic quality fish. They took a few days to settle in - the male was out investigating and becoming pals with my male dwarf gourami in no time. What I noticed though was how quiet the female was, although I'm used to the female always hiding in the caves etc.

Well, this morning I noticed one of my rummy nose tetras was dying. That's a sign to say there's a dead fish in the tank somewhere as these tetras have proven to be just as sensitive as I was warned they would be. And then I noticed my poor little female apisto was dead. I examined her and she was as clean as a whistle - no signs of disease etc. I wonder if she was just a little sensitive and never settled in?

Anyway, although my male seems happy enough, I just want to check whether I should get him a female? Does he need the company or will he be happy enough as it is? I can't and don't want to breed from him anyway seeing as he has a kink in his tail and have been warned not to breed from him. I do have another apisto pair of juvenile apisto. norberti which have had for a few months and they have been fine.

Ok, hope you can give me some advice.
