i have just notices hundreds of tiny (bearly visable) beasties in my boys tanks, they are 2.5 galon tanks, lined with send, a few plants and some plant pots. they get no artificial light as the room is very bright anyway. i had just done a water change and noticed a few little dots that i though may have just been debris stirred up by the water being pumped in, but looking closer i saw that they were moving around, and there were hundereds of them. could anyone say what they are and could they make food food for the fry? the adults dont seem to take any notice of them.

...are they greyish?
could be water lice,as far as i know not harmful..
maybe try the emergencies forum ( i know that sounds bad, but ull get a better response in there :good: )

snails... I hear sometimes people buy plants with snail eggs in them. Thats what I hear.

I had that, caused by over feeding something like planaria (prob. not called that like tiny moving white dots) my fish ate them... :hyper: :hyper:

That's how we got our snails... Next time you get a plant prepare a solution of aquarium salt and water and shake the plant around in it for a few seconds - should do the trick if they're snails.

they are definately not snails! there hundereds of them and are free swimming, they look like minute daphnia, only bearly visable.

Snails are nastily chewy....
And they multiply faster than pennies in your pocket.
