Unhappy Tetra

IV just stared out and only got a couple or so fish at the moment; I have 2 Danio tetra and 2 Black tetra of which 1 has died.
The problem I am having is the remaining Black tetra and 1 of the Danio's just hide away, the other Danio is a lot larger and seems to chase the other 2 all the time.
Please can anyone advice me what to do for the best ??..

Its 24 inch and its been up and running for a while now.

Danios and Tetras are both schooling fish and prefer to be in groups of 6 or more. If not, they may be shy, stressed or become nippy.

How often do you test for ammonia and nitrite and what type of test kit do you use for this?

you definitely need to up the numbers of these fish as Faythee mentioned these are schooling fish and need good numbers 6+ to feel safe and be out in the open, if their numbers are few what fish you will have will be scared, stay hidden and very stressed (which could lead it itch etc etc) these fish get confidence in numbers,

do you have the full tank dimensions Height, width, length ??? or how many Ltr or Gallon it is.

when you say it has been running a while, how long is this ??

has your water ever been tested to ensure that the tank has been cycled ??

It is only a 5 gallon tank and I had the water tested when I brought them, so you think I should have more then

also in my experience, i have in the past noticed that a fish may separate them selves from the rest of the group if it is ill, or about to die, but thats just one *possible* cause, and by no means definite

if water quality is poor then fish will often hide away, it doesn't sound like the tank was cycled before you added fish so you may have water quality issues.
