Unfortunate Event

i bought a ripe silver mollie three weeks ago. I was thinking that she would drop in several days. Yesterday she finally did. Half were still born and the other half were very small. About 20 total...so ten survived. When I came home from work there were two left. They were in a breeder cage and I discovered that my other fish were stripping them out of the cage when their tails got outside the net.

Has this ever happened to anyone before?
