give us your suggestions for under appreciated fish, something that's not a big favourite but you can never work out why cos you just love them!

maybe we can all get some inspiration to try something new in our tanks. :good:

Spotted Raphael cats,I know,I know, they hide all the time, but when they are out they are So intrusting to look at,cool shape, cool spines, neat colors, and bright blue eyes.I love them to death, and will always have atleast a few in my tank.I always wonder why you don't hear more about them.

yeah i'm torn over them, i've had them before and I do really like them, but you see them so rarely that I wonder what the point of having them taking up the stocking in the tank is!

I had one in a community tank once, stripped the tank down and took all the fish back to the lfs, I'd drained the tank to one third full, removed most decor and caught and bagged up all the fish, instead of having the fish sat around while i finished draining the tank I ran them all down to the lfs then came back and stripped the tank dwon, removed the last bit of decor and found my raphael cat, I hadn't seen him in so long I'd literally forgotten that I had him, had to hook the tank back up to get him through the night then take him to the lfs in the morning

Congo Tetras, I know that there are several members that have these in their tanks but I rarely ever see them at the LFS (the big chain stores anyway). I also rarely see Pristella Tetras anymore...one of my favorites.

5 ringed barbs.

Very shy but absolutely beautiful, just like my wife. <--------- that´s just to impress her.

colombian tetra's. I had 6 in a tank not all that long ago and were very interesting little characters.

Galaxy Rasboras...and apparently they're breeding them captively now.

Emperor Tetras,
Giant Danios,
most rainbow species, iranian reds and boesmani
hoplos,
keyholes (<<most people go for rams or apistos instead)

minnows

are amazing and pretty little fish who no one really likes
i got normal white clouds and are looking for the others

they are so playful they spend all day playing in different water currents they sort of line up and take it in turns to play in the bubbles lmao

yeah WCMM's a good one, I know they're fairly common but not many 'serious aquarists' (whatever that may be) stock them.

I'm not keen on the long finned but I really like the Golden ones. :good:

Tiger Barbs, I love them (and really miss having some) in large groups of the different colour strains, they look great racing around a tank.

Back to Rasboras...I can't ever find anything other than Harlequins (occasionally lamb chops), and scissor-tails in the LFS. Where are the Phoenix, Galaxy, Zebras, etc.? Anyone else come across these? I'm in the US...

I like Rosy Barbs...underrated.

Galaxy rasbora's (or celestial pearl danio's as they're now known) only have one source and have been fished close to extinction. Most new stock is coming from captive breeders now as I understand it. Hopefully I'll be one soon, I'm just waiting for them to mature enough that they start breeding.
