Was curiously looking in today's local paper and spotted a Fluval Roma 200 for sale in the town where I lived.

Saw that he only wanted £100 included with this is the cabinet, all fish, pumps, heaters and even a hospital tank, it is less than a year old , so I went to have a look this morning.

It was immaculate, it is a fully planted tank with a varied number of fish in, unfortunantely the guy who was selling is very ill and cannot look after it now.

It is a beautiful tank, I will post some pictures later, I cant believe it was only £100

I would be grateful on any advice on taking down the tank e.g what do i do with the fish etc do I leave the tank half full of water etc etc.

Would be grateful for any advice, the fish do not have to go far.

Many thanks

I googled the tank, it looks great! Sounds like you got a super deal!

You'll never be able to carry a 200L tank half full mate. It would weigh about 150kg.

Get the fish in buckets (taken from the tank, of course), get the gravel in another bucket.

Try to keep the filter media wet (another bucket?) to avoid a mini (or even full) cycle

Get a ucket full of tank water and put then fi8sh and filter media in it. Empty out the tank except a very small amout of water. That way it should be light enough for one or two people to wrestle into a vehicle. Set up the tank when you get home, fill it with dechlorinated water most of the way and add the bucket of water with the fish back in. This assumes you have temperature matched the water to the bucket and the water at both places is from the same water supplier. Otherwise you will need to acclimate your bucket of fish to your new water by changing small amounts of the water in the bucket every 10 or 15 minutes until the bucket water is basically the same as the tank water. At that point you could add fish and water to the tank. Once everything is set up and the fish are moved in, put the filter media back into the filter and get it running.
