well im a noob and I went to this pet shop (pretty nice all waters are clean and fish seem healthy)

so I decide to buy from this fish store and I didnt kno what to buy so I asked the guy my tanks size and easy to take care fish

I got a 20g tank

and he recommended a number of fishes and i simply picked the one i thought looked cool

so i got 4 black neon tetra, 4 micky mouse platy
and 1 bala shark

after I got home i did some reaserch on these fish(should of done that befor i got the fish)

the bala shark is suppsoed to be in a tank alteast 55g

i was like  and shocked

they also grow up to 10inches

then thought what a asshole shopkeeper (he didnt seem very enthusiastic or friendly)

my shark hasent eaten any flakes in the past 3 days

but seems to be eating TINY particles from the sand

also he seems to constantly swim into the glass corners going up and down

the bottome line is should I return him? do you think i could get my money back?

Yes return him bless him, they need to be kept in group like tetra's they won't survive on there own, plus a small bala shark when young shouldn't be kept in no less than a 75gal as they are fast swimmers and need big tanks.
I wouldn't go back there as he has given you some dreadful advice.
Has your tank cycled.

i told him its been running for about a week and that i added this bottle of stress zyme(contains millions of good bacteria) to help speed up the process

do you think i can get my money back or trade it for a few hardy corys?(since he did give me false information)

Did you read some topics on cycling, there are a lot of good ones here. Sorry, but I think that only running it for a week and adding stress zyme won't do much at all...

You need to take the bala shark back, black neons tetras are not a cycling fish either, platys were once hardy but not anymore, what a mess, but i would definately take the bala shark back to the lfs.
plus get some liquid test kits in ammonia, nitrite, to follow your stats while you cycle the tank.

yea i just did and i do have the test kits the pH is 6.7 ammonia is 0 nitrite is 0

should i get a nitrate test kit also?

if things do go bad should i do daily water changes?

No need to do water changes the cycle hasn't even started yet.
Yes get a nitrate kit.
Read up on cycling a tank, plenty of articles on the site, good luck.
