My Betta is eating Algae tabs. He isn't starving or anything, but I'll feed him then drop a tab in for the other fish and he swims down and starts eating it? Any reason for this or is he just being a goofball?

All fish seem to like algae wafers. Even my angel will swim down for them (and catfish pellets) and they're not supposed to feed from the bottom at all!

Nothing you can do about it really; and it won't do him any harm.

Bettas are a bit 'piggish'.  They will eat whatever is available.  I wouldn't worry about it.  If you are worried about the algae wafer getting down to the other fish, break it into bits and scatter it.  The betta can have some and the other fish as well.

Oh, the other fish get enough. It's a fairly big tab.. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't cause him any harm later on in his life. Thanks for the replies!

There is something about the algae tabs that bettas (and just about every other fish) seem to like whether they are supposed to eat it or not.  All of my bettas seem to love the things and will eat all of their food and then gorge themselves trying to eat the algae tabs too.  It won't hurt your betta unless he constipates or bloats himself from overeating.

Yep, algae wafers seem to be a favourite amongst many specie of fish and inverts.

My endlers, shrimps and snails all do battle over these algae wafers!
