Just looked and it appears one of my new lemon tetras has the top section of its tail missing

Hmm it might just be aggression amongst the group then. Sometimes there will be a runt that gets picked on by the others. Just keep a eye on it, plenty of waterchanges and good food and it should be back to normal in no time.

It should grow back with quality feeding, perhaps in a QT tank, with more frequent water changes. My "Mr Stumpy" (Pearl Danio) lost the whole of his tail fin and it is now growing back.

I don't have a QT tank. But I will be doing frequent water changes and quality feeding! Just at first glance i hadn't ever seen this so though i had better post!

As recommended you should keep the quality of the water good and make sure he is feed good, the rest is all the little guys job for it to grow back.
