Ultra Violet Steriliser?

Hi all,
I've recently been having trouble with finrot, i think it's something that's came from pets at home or something to do with the tap water (i use aqua safe btw).
Anyway, could anyone give me some info on UV sterilisers? Do they get rid of all diseases from the tank
I really need to know cos to be honest this finrot disease is annoying me now!!!

I have a 90L tank (Fluval Roma 90), tropical setup, don't know if this will help with the info. Ta

uv sterilizers kill anything in the water that passes through it, meaning it can prevent disease but not treat disease. finrot is on the fish and not waterborn, so the uv sterilizer won't do much.

i also think having a uv sterilizer on might affect the medication in the water, but i'm not sure.

UV sterilisers should be off when medicating unless the medication states its okay to have it on
