UK MEETING IS ON!

It would take longer than 3 hours for some of the Southerners to get up to Manchester. Prob more like 4.5/5 hours as they have to trek through London on the tube too.

Where I live is about 30 mins further South from Manchester so maybe somewhere here??

i`m up maybe for london aquarium if i have the money

i do totally agree with CS that midlands would off been fairer and i am unsure why and how you managed to come up with london as the best place to meet as they had a poll and results was really quite clear

alton towers (midlands) - 31.82% of votes
other (anywhere else may include london but also may not) - 40.91% of votes

the midlands acording to the votes as a single place to meet was by far the highest as other was only 4 votes higher and it may not of even been a other vote for london.

i honestly cannot see the point in having a poll which was at the time a pinned topic if the content on the vote is not taken into concideration. i have read the topic over and over and quite simply it looks more like the vote was going well then a single person got bored of waiting and said ok a desision has been made the meet up is at blar blar on the blar blar blar and thats it disregarding anyone elses views and the vote itself.

well thats my digging done for the week :p

Manchester isnt the midlands, thats in the frozen north!!!!! I tried organising one of these events a couple of years ago, had loads of interest and then a month before it happened everyone dropped out  :( But even then the large majority of people voted for the event to be in London (we even had the London aquarium as the meet place).
It isnt just a case of London having more people it is also far easier to get too and find somewhere to stay, i used to do a lot of work in the midlands around the Birmingham and Worcester areas and the public transport and localities of B&Bs etc were no where near the same standard as those in London.

I have already suggested we move it a little further South guys. There's loads of placed to stay in Manchester and Birmingham though - I've stayed in both cities plenty of times.

We'llsee what happens closer to the time anyway?

I travelled through London a couple of weeks ago for Glastonbury and we were in disbelief at how primitive the London transport system was.

I wouldn't have said Manchester either. Manchester is in the North West, that's why I mentioned Chester with them having a public aquarium there. That's more south is it not?

I simply can't go to a meet as far away as London. I cannot afford to stay somewhere overnight and travelling for 7-8 hours each way on the coach is out of the question. Trains could have been done but I wouldn't get cheap tickets (as in the £20 promotion) on a bank holiday and even then it still takes a good few hours.

No win situation for me, I'm afraid.

Plus the accommodation is way more expensive in London anyway! Even if it is of a better standard. A bed is a bed to me. As long as it's clean that's all that really matters just for one night.

Chester sounds good to me.

ughhh England, I...love....England.. I've always wanted to live there, it's been some weird dream of mine. :dunno:

Why u wanna live here?

I have a big favour to ask. Could anyone possibly bring me some media from their cycled tank. I have two uncycled tanks which will have bettas in on wednesday. I'm not looking forward to daily water changes. So if anyone could bring an old sponge, or some gravel in a bag of tank water then I would be imensely greatful.

Bring it to the meeting?

Yeah sure but it's like a month away, can you wait that long?

That'll be because some of it is over 100 years old!! When you think of how many people move around the system every day it is pretty amazing! (glass half full and all that! )

Anyway, way off topic....

To save money why don't people from further away crash round other people's houses??
