Hey guys.

I finally got my platys on thursday, and they're all doing excellent. My problems is, the temperature in the room doesn't want to stay down, so their tank temperature, despite my efforts, is standing at about 81-82F.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to try and keep the temperature down to where it's supposed to lie?

Possibly move the tank to somewhere less close to the radiators :hey:
Or turn the temp down of your house :hey:
Orrr Turn the heater in the tank down in your tank a few notches :hey:

81 isn't too bad, if it stays at that they should be okay. You can try doing small water changes with cooler water, or floating a bag of ice/cold water in the tank. It's really not a big deal though. However you do it, just make sure the temperature doesn't change dramatically. It has to be gradual, otherwise they can get very stressed. :)

Actually, floating a bag of water seems really reasonable.
The heater is already down pretty far. It's just the room itself heating up, so I think this could help out a bunch.

Thanks you two.

take the lid off of the tank, dont panic as platies are very hardy fish but try to get the temp down to about 76 i keep my guppies at 80 all the time so dont worry.
