I have a new tank to pick up but it comes with all the fish they currently have. I am selling my one so I will have to put all the fish in the new tank to start with. I am going to run 3 mature filters and am using the water from my current tank. I am treating it as a large waterchange, in preparation I haven't done my water change this week yet. It is just over 300 litre so about 300 with all ornaments etc. I don't know exact numbers of ish but I know I am going to be majorly overstocked with the ones I have at the moment aswell. The list below is just what I will have but not quantity. I am going to update that once I get the new fish and count my fish as I empty my tank. Some quantities I do know.

1 red tailed black shark
1 Angel fish
1 BN Plec
8 Bronze corys
2 peppered corys
1 albino (from new tank) cory - note I would never keep just one alone :)
4 panda corys
mix of skunk, black fin and Napo corys - sadly a few died so max of 10 alltogether
5 neon tetras
8 rummynose tetras
2 sparkling gouramis
head and tail light tetras
glolight tetras
harlequin rasboras
4 dwarf gouramis
2 kribs
new arrivals would be (this is how they wrote it)
harlequin,
leoplard danio,
clown loach,
zebra loach's,
black widow tetra,
cherry barb,
golden tiger barb,
pearl gurami,
3 spot gurami,
albino corey,
2 spot rasbora,
penguin tetra,
balloon mollies,
platey's
glo light tetra
She said she doesn't know the quantity of the smaller fish but in total there is about 40-50 fish!

I can tell you exact quantities when I get them sorted but I am wondering which I should try to pass on to someone. I am thinking the 2 gouramis need to go and I don't want the mollies or plateys. Any advice at this point would be helpful but I guess you can't tell until I get the def amounts?

I guess the easiest way to start re-homing would be to re-home anything that isn't in it's 'correct' sized group and that you don't already have some of/want some of.

Eg. They have harlequins... but even if there were only 2 harlequins, you have harlequins. So no sense re-homing them as they can join your group.
They have leopard danios... you don't have leopard danios so re-home to someone who does (if it's a small group coming to you) or re-home to anyone as a group if they come as a proper group.

So out of the list I'll highlight in red the ones I think you should aim to re-home, green is keep, orange is 'depends on' and I'll add notes:
Harlequin - They can join your group
Leopard Danio - depends if you want leopard danios/have room for them. Shoaler so should be kept as 5 or more. If less than 5 come to you I suggest rehoming to someone who already has a group if possible (or buying more to go with them if you want to keep them), and re-homing to any tank if they come in a large enough group.
Clown Loach - Too big long term, should be kept in groups, try to re-home to large tank which already has clown loaches if poss
Zebra Loaches - Do you want them/can you make room for them? If not then re-home to someone else, should be kept in groups of 4 or more. Try to re-home accordingly.
Black widow tetra - Again... do you want them? Shoalers so need to be kept in 5+ sized group really. Re-home accordingly if not wanted.
Cherry barb - As above
Golden (albino?) tiger barb - Wouldn't even bother thinking about keeping these guys based on your other fish, due to agressive nature they're best in groups of 7-8+ so I'd just re-home
Pearl Gourami - A nice sized relatively peaceful gourami, if you wanted it I'd suggest re-homing your dwarves + sparklers, if not then re-home it.
3 spot gourami - Not sure if it'd live peacfully with the pearly or not. But I wouldn't even try it with your dwarves and sparklers.
Albino Cory - Seeing as you already have quite alot of fish (and corys lol) I would suggest rehoming this when possible to a tank with other albinos. However in the mean time it should be happy enough with your group.
2 Spot Rasbora - Pretty big fish (I had to google them cause I hadn't heard of them before), 13-20cm fully grown. Try to re-home to another group if poss, if not just try to get them a home in a big tank. Suggestions I'm seeing are for a 6fter or so...
Penguin tetras - As with the other shoalers really. Do you have room? Do you want them? If not then re-home accordingly.
Balloon mollies - Rehome, you said you didn't want them.
Platys - Rehome, again you said you didn't want them.
Glo light tetra - May aswell keep them and add them to your group.

Once you have actually had a chance to catalogue all the new fish, and decided which you're keeping, then perhaps re post a list to see if you'll be over stocked or not with the ones you've decided to keep. :)
Will you be able to keep the old tank running for holding fish ready to re-home or does it need to be moved? Just thinking that it'd be really useful for you to have a 'holding tank', it'd make catching them all again alot easier.

When fish stocks around the world start to get seriously depleated we will know where they all are

Yes I'm being a little greedy aren't I

Thank you for the great response! So helpful! I knew the Tiger Barbs would go too, I wanted them originally but saw they were too aggressive. I didn't have a clue those Rasboras would get so huge! I will be finding a new home for them asap!
I didn't know the 2 types of gouramis wouldn't get along, let alone that they would like the dwarf and sparkling.
There was a guy on here who said he wanted to buy my tank and I said if he wants to pick it up sunday if I get the tank saturday he can, so best to have it empty. Also I am using my tank water in the new tank. I do have a small 95litre empty that I could put them in but might be too many to fit in there to hold them in. I will have to struggle to catch them. I am of to buy a 10inch net which I am hoping will aid in the catching of the fish
I will def re post a list with exact amounts. I think my stock was just about ok for the new tank, as I think I was overstocked in my old 200 litre! Hense why I am upgrading! But will get your opinions once all sorted :) Thanks again for the helpful advice!

Oh and I do love my cories hence why I have so many  I just can't resist them :)

Someone is going to have a busy weekend. You will have to post some pics when you get it all sorted.

Keith.

I will do! I'm very excited about my new 5fter! nothing compared to some others tanks! I am getting some redwood off a guy on here that will hopefully come next week and i want to 'document' the progress in my tank. The problem is I lost my excellent camera phone so my new one has a rubbish camera! But it will have to do! :)

Me neither, I call them my underwater kittens! Sadly I'm fully stocked at the moment and there's still so many species I want. *sigh*

Have great fun and good luck with your 5fter, how exciting. :)
