I see cycling tank with ammonia up to 8ppm. That is not suitable for a Betta, or any fish in that fact. Water changes every other day does not have the ammonia get any higher then 0.10ppm.
Read the posts.... By keeping the betta where it is and doing daily/when needed water changes, the ammonia definately isn't gonig to get to a toxic level, and I'm sure there will be enough for some bacterial growth. Whereas your moving to a 1g method is basically the same, but with more stress to the fish, faster ammonia buildup, no filter etc...
