I've set up a discus tank and at present have 4 although I'll get another 2 in next couple of weeks as fixing my car came first

They are in a tank which housed two Uaru that I had kept for a few months longer, the Uarus are still only 3-4 inches as I bought them as tiny youngsters

They have been together about 6 weeks now and there have been no issues but a user onthis forum was suprised I kept the two on a different thread the other day.

Am I right in thinking that they have the same requirements of water and that they are fine to keep together in a set up?

My plan has always been to move the Uarus to my larger set up when they attain about 7 inchesor so anyway

cheers Simon

No I fear the Uaru would start to dominate and attack the Discus.

As the above person said. I would be scared of the Uaru dominating the tank. I have never actually kept them. I know they aren't highly aggressive, but Discus are very timid. Might be fine now because they are young, but things might change a little bit when they get bigger. I would really keep an eye out and make sure the Discus are getting food, and are not getting picked on.

A fishs personality changes when you they grow older.

Uras might not attack the discus if they're young. They might not attack the discus if they grew up in a communtiy tank.

It's upto you. Just montior the tank very closely. Make sure you have a back up plan if anything happens.

I've got 7 tanks and theres a cichlid grow on tak they could go into if needs be

as I said previously they;re only growing on in there and its te discus who are the bossy ones at this moment in time

It should be fine but makes sure you keep a close eye to make sure nothing bad happens.

I'd say they would be fine together provided the Uaru don't pair up, as this is the only time you will see any hint of aggression from them.
