Dr Chia, You tell me, I don't know what you called them. What is a crown moon and who invent the name? I heard halfsun before. Actually I cross-breed it myself as an experiment. Father is a turquoise halfmoon (with doubletail geno and will throw out 25%) and mother is a MG/yellow copper crowntail. They all are in the post "babies betta for you". :p

Prize? I don't know what is the right answer yet. hahahaha

Below picture is a nother one that very close to 180 degree. Need some more time in jar him up will get to that. :D

Hi Yeeviabetta,

If its caudial spread remains at less than 180 degrees like a Delta Tail, it's a Half Sun. I believe the Thais were the ones who developed and named this caudial strain.

More recently, the Half Sun tail form was futher developed into a Half Moon variety and the Crown Moon was born. So, if the caudial spread develops to 180 degrees like a Half Moon, it's a Crown Moon. Like the guys in the following URL.

Edit: Personally, I find these new names interesting, refreshing but confusing. What should the Over Half Moon variety be called? Over Crown Moon? Crown Sun? Sun Moon?

Hi D Chia. Thanks for the great informations and I never know that. So crownmoon is the latest one. Do you know in what year they have those?
I do agreed with those over hm. What you going to call them too. Over crownmoon? :p How about more rays in a spike? Are they going to call it spikymoon, punkymoon or forkymoon? :p
Anyway, I have a new plan breeding another pair of crowntail and halfmoon now. OK. Will see it is going to happen or not. Oh yes, do you call this is a hybrid or still in developing breeding betta? I heard people saying that is is bad to cross breeding. I have see no harm in halfmoon plakat and they make the betta looks better. What will happen if a halfmoon male breed with a female veiltail? What you call them? Delta?
Interesting huh? LOL

I have two female crown for breeding but only one male crown. Maybe I should let a halfmoon and female crown mate and see what happens.

Why not! Ral. Breed it. I am planning on my pure copper crowntail female with red sulthasine male halfmoon. Opps. I spills is out, yossie. LOL :) Do keep up date and see how the outcome is. Ral, what color is the crowntail female and the halfmoon? :D

The females I have a steel blue one and a royal blue one. The halfmoons, same one steel blue (alotugh this one is one of my pets) and a royal blue one.

My worry is I might come up with fish no one will want :(

My firt attemp at breeding... crown to crown resulted in no eggs :(

You will get royal blue, steel and green too. The tail will be cute like my babies. :) Tells them they are crownmoon. LOL Like hm plakat but got rays.
:D

Don't think too much. just do it. Besides you still can breed the female in 3 weeks. B)
