Got two better pics of the Oscars... I finally got my digi fixed so now I can actually get their coloring in there correct.
Bubba when he was a small chap... isnt he the CUTEST!!!! I wish he were still so small and innocent.

Here is Bubba now all big and handsome trying to get on the cover of FishMopolitan

And of course my wittle Blade... I never knew what he looked like as a small little sappling like Bubba, but he is still cute. He's saying "Feed me Feed me!"

Uhh he is still shy around the camera. Pictures I guess still arent that great, but at least they dont make Bubba look pink like the last ones!

they are so gorgeous!!!

i especially like blad. how his colors came out as he aged. is he a tiger oscar by any chance?

Bubba is cute too. i've always had a thing for albinos :D .

Blades coloring has actually been that way since I got him, it gets alittle more vibrant when he thinks he is getting fed, or maybe it just looks that way to me. Yes he is a Red Tiger Oscar (or so the label said anyways) and Bubba is an Albino Tiger... seeing them in person does better justice, I keep trying to get good pics but I just cant seem to do it, they always think im trying to feed them when I get close to the tank so they freak out and swim really fast and its hard to take a snapshot... but these are better than the other ones I had.

Does anyone think it would be possible to add another oscar when I put them in the 290 gallon, or would they pretty much max it out? Would 3 get along with each other, or is that pushing it? Im figuring that they would probably pair up with one another one and than bully the third, so maybe that isnt the greatest idea. Also can Oscars be brackish fish? Just another out of there question I was wondering about.

Yes, if the two paired, they would bully the other one constantly. But, that is assuming they pair, if they don't, they just might all attack eachother. But honestly, if it's a 290 with a large depth, maybe dim 72"l x 26"h x 36"w, you could have three juvenile to middle aged oscars. when they get full grown, I might think that there would be problems. So prob would wanna stick with the two

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to include answer to your last part. I havent heard of anyone keeping oscars in brackish environments, might not hurt them with minor salinity like <1.005, but why risk it I guess. Best is to keep it in fresh. PM Nmonks and he could give you a def answer on anything brackish

I have seen small groups of adult Oscar's kept in smaller tanks than 290 gallons. IMO there's plenty of room in there for 3 but if 2 pair off that could be a big problem.

LOL yeah exactly, big puppy dogs with puppy dog eyes too! Im pretty sure thats the picture, the angle of the camera and the angle of the oscar that makes it looks like he has a big pushed up snoz... its a pretty close up picture, in real life he is only like 8" long, still a big baby.

Try angling your camera down. It will look darker in the veiw finder. It should help cut some of the glare and bring out the colors. Are you using the macro (I think, as opposed to micro) setting. It has the little flower meaning for closeups. The mountain for long shots.

Cute fish. Oscar Brutes in training. :)
