There is no hard and fast rule except when there are females around. Then we would recommend you only having the one male for obvious reasons.
If it's only males you intend to keep then observe the tank and see how they get on. They may flair fins from time to time but if no real bullying is taking place then they should be fine. Remember a tight fitting lid is essential with most killifish species.
