There hasn't been a male in the tank for over 2 months and yet they just got preggo. The gravid spot has been there for about 5 days now, and i had already lost 3 other batches of fry for not being there in time. So i was wondering when can i expect fry so i can move the female to a quarinetine tank.

I found moving the pregnant fish is always a toss up. They often abort. Depending on the size of your tank I would add lots of litttle hiding places. I have a 35g and I baught alot of leafy plants both live and fake and provided lots of ornaments and rock cracks and things for the fry to hide in. Also keep in mind that your pregnant fish is not the only one who will be hungry. Mother nature is efficient but not always kind :)

Hope This Helps,

Quinton

Yeah it does she eats alot of blood worms now so yeah thanx so i need to find out how to get them in the breeder tank though. thanx though

when u notice your female not eating as much or not eating at all and hinding from u this is usually a really good sign that she is about to give birth. if u want to move her in a different tank i would do it no later then 3 weeks after u noticed the gravid spot. this is b/c i've seen a platy give birth twich withen 3 weeks
