Definetely not HRPS but probably HRP X convict

These are pics of my convicts, bit blurry cuz they're cell phone pics, but gives you an idea of the difference between the pure cons and the hybrids. Body shape is deeper vs the HRP's elongated shape, there are more visible stripes and less visible colour on the body. As a point of interest, in the first pic, the con on the left is the male, and the con on the right is the female and shes hovering over about 100 wigglers.

This pic gives you a better idea of the different body shape. That again is the female watching her wigglers, a few hrs later.

I have never heard of females laying eggs in the absence of a male, I dont think it makes much sense biologically.

I can tell you that they will. I had a female convict lay eggs several times without a male convict in the tank. There were both a male jack dempsey and a male green terror in the tank, so maybe she was trying to breed with the jack dempsey. But, if so, the Dempsey wanted nothing to do with her. I finally took a male from my other tank and let her fulfill her need to breed.
