not an emergency but after doing a water change today I noticed one of my Tuxedos was missing. I found her hiding in the castle I have in the tank. She came out at feeding time and fed as normal, but has spent time now hiding in my cabomba.

When she does come out she seems fine, there is no gasping when she rests/hides. My water stats are all fine. From the photo is there anything anyone can see that may point to her being unwell?

Mine done that for a while.hiding way up inside an ornament.no explanation.dont know if he was just spooked but he's still going strong.

Is she possibly giving birth? I can't see anything obvious in the pic but she is gravid by the looks of things, how many males to females do you have in the tank, sometimes if there are more males to females the girls can get harassed a bit  I have this issue with mine atm but hoping to raise some more fry up and keep the females to boost their numbers.

that was my first thought, I have 1 male and 6 females so I suppose her being with fry is a big possibility

I think she might be pregnant. I don't really see anything either. But she's very big. And she might be getting ready to birth. Either that or she's bloated. But cooked peas in the tank. And look out for babies.
I'm really leaning towards babies though.

she looks as if she's ready to drop some fry to me too. Platies often isolate themselves prior to dropping fry :)

well, she was still hiding this morning, but when I got home from work she was back to her normal self......................and a lot slimmer, so you were all spot on saying she was pregnant.

Sadly I don't think any fry survived, but I'll keep an eye out because there are plenty of hiding places and one or two may have made it!
