Hi,

I have a 180L setup with about 10kg of live rock, 9kg of live sand on a 3inch thick substrate of argonite...

Water quality is as follows (testes performed yesterday morning)

Ammonia = 0
Nitrites = 0
Nitrates = 0 - 5 ppm
PH 8.2
SG 1.024

Temp about 26C

Haven't tested for Calcium or Phosphates.

Stock

2 Clownies
2 damsel
2 Cardinal

Clean up crew

7 Turbo snails
8 Blue Legged Hermits
5 Red Legged Hermits (new additions)

Tank has been running about 3 months, with most of the hermits (blue legged fellas) and the snails in for a about a month or so...

My problem is that 3 or 4 of the snails have become lethargic (I would use sluggish :)) over the last week, in that they don't move but are alive as there is movement of sorts...

The Blue hermits are fine and are still cleaning away, the reds do seem a little lazy and don't seem to move much ( I've been told this is to be expected esp. in new arrivals).

The fish are happy and eating everything given to them...

Things that have changed,

Well I have tweaked the temp down by about a degree or so as it was running a little high, and prior to this the snails did seem to be fine. A 25l water change has been performed with in the last week as mater of course.

Does anyone have any ideas? Guy at the LFS did say it could be temp related....

Cheers

Ian

could be the temp...IIRC there are at least 2 types of "turbo" snails. 1 type prefers warmer waters, and the other prefers slightly cooler waters :S . Also, the blue legs might be messing with them. I generally try to only put scarlet reef hermits because the blue's will eat the snails (I do put blue legs in once in a while since they are cheap and my niger eats all my hermits anyway :*) )
