I can't find anything that this betta will eat!!!! Everything gets sucked in, and than spat right back out, usually with a "yawn" as if to say 'you expect me to eat THAT'. I'm starting to get a little worried.

I've tried:

Wardley's
Hikari
TopFin
HBH
BettaMin Flakes
TetraMin Granules

Still nothing. He'll at least try the round foods - but he won't touch the flakes. (Not that I'm surprised.) I've had some bad experiances feeding nothing but bloodworms and daphnia, so I'm trying to put that off until last. Are there any other kind of pellets out there that he might be interested in? I'm pretty sure that he's getting the same food (Wardley's or TopFin) he's used to (even if he was half-starved). I just got him on Saturday, but he should be eating by now. The one I got on Friday will eat a little, but at least he's eating!

Help! I'm getting really frustrated.

:shout: he's not starving....he's thinking if I hang on long enough I will have my new Mommy/Daddy completely in my power. :hey:  she/he will then love me so much when I start eating I will be spoilt for ever.
He really wont starve just leave him 48 hours, then try again! ;) ;) ;) Little devil!

instinct will kick in when he is hungry and will eat behind your back.

visual piccie.. distressed fishy parent turns her back on delinquent fishy son who hasnt let a morsel of food pass his lips. Parent sinks in chair head on arms in utter despair. Fishy son gobbles up all existing grub. Parent turns their tear stained face back to tank delinquent fishy son sucks his fat belly in and hollows his little cheeks.

did you try some smushed peas? he might be more interested in them... otherwise, he'll probably eat in a few days. my betta isn't eating much either, but i just got him less than a week ago, so i think it's just stress... or perhaps the fact that he's small and his tummy can't hold a lot. either way, i've caught him eating off of the gravel before. he swam clear to the other side of the tank and acted like he was still all sickly... crazy betta.

He was (and still is) in pretty bad shape. He had been forgotten on a back shelf at the store, and I don't think his bowl was touched in a week or more. He has some pretty bad ammonia burns but seems to be feeling fine. He's a tad skinnier than I like my bettas, but he's not in danger. I just want to get him eating so he'll heal faster. I'm a worry-wort, I know. (You should have seen me the first few months I had my first cat. I was like a new mom calling the doctor every time her baby coughed. )

He finally ate last night - five pellets in a row before he started spitting them out again. Phew.... It was about time!
