Hello,

I am a new member to this forum and I am trying to get back in to the hobby. I was really in to fish keeping when I was young I had two 90's 2 55's and countless 20's and a 10 nano reef, but I fell out of it after my second year of college. The reason I am starting up again is I bought a 400 gallon (96Lx30wx31T all glass 2 overflow 400lbs) back in 04 and until now couldn’t set it up (it’s in wall and my basement was just finish). I have two quiet ones the 1500 gph version and I am thinking about using a 90 gal glass as a filter and sump (might add a fx5). The only fish I still have is a silver arowana about 16 inches that’s in a 55.

I am not sure if this will work anymore, I haven't keep up with the trends or new technology in fish tanks any advice is welcome. I think I might want to add tanks or go with a complete different fish type I am pretty open expect no saltwater.

will post Pics later

Thanks in advance

Well, depending on how long ago you kept fish, and what techniques you employed...fishkeeping may or may not be much different for you.

In general we tend to stress:
1) Adequate water changes (usually recommend at least 20% per week), and tank maint to keep high water quality
2) Providing a variety of food (high quality prepared foods, veggies, and dried/froze/live foods)

As for recommendations with a tank that large...well to be honest there are so many possibilities it kinda boggles the mind. Any themes, color schemes, particular size of fish, etc you are considering? Do you want it planted? etc. XD

for theme i was thinking amazon
but i know know where to get those huge piece of drift wood like the zoo tanks

Well since I'm a lover of dwarf, micros, etc...(i.e. things that would just be utterly lost in a huge tank like that)...I had to do a bit of pondering.

One recommendation I'd make would be: Acarichthys heckelii aka Threadfin Acara I've seen varying reports on how large they get (from 13cm to 25cm), but everyone seems to agree that they are stunning.

I'd just stick a whole heap of little colourful fish in there like bunches of tetras and barbs and stuff like that if its gonna be planted it would look heaps nice with heaps of colours and it would brighten up the room.
