I thought I had fixed up my 15g's leak a few weeks ago. I used aquarium-specific silicone that cost me a mint and didn't go very far. Filled it all up, decorated with sand, rocks and a great plant, only to have the !@#$% start leaking. So I tore it down, and a few days ago bought the recommended 100% silicone rubber sealant. I caulked every seam, even the bottom outside, and now waiting a few more days for it to cure.

Is this the product I should use? Will my fish be all right? I think it will be fine once it cures, but want to see if anyone else has used it successfully.

Thanks for your help ...

As long as it doesn't say mold or mildew resistant, it should be safe. By the way, did you remover all the silicone from the seam you were repairing?

I did check that very thing, and there's no indication it has any mold or mildew killers. And yes, I did remove all the old stuff. What a PITA! My plan is to start filling it with water tomorrow to check for leaks. That will be 3 days, so should be pretty well cured, right?

Yeah, 72 hrs is the general recommendation, but it can take 7 days to fully cure.
Sounds like you got the right stuff.
Pita is an understatement. The last tank I scraped, took 3 days and 4 razor blades to get down to bare glass. I still need to seal it, but waiting for more stable weather.

Well, I might just wait a full week to start the testing then. This is the second time I've tried to seal this same tank, and I want to do everything by the book so I don't have to do it again!
