I put this in the Cyprinids and Characins section, but nobody is in there so I'm not getting an answer. So we'll try it here. :D

I just got two red eye tetras and two cherry barbs yesterday. The thing is, right now I have them in with a dwarf puffer, which may cause problems because the puffer is an aggressive fish.

I don't know a lot about red eye tetras or cherry barbs, so I was wondering, if I was to take out the puffer and put it in a separate tank, and I was to move my betta into the tank with the tetras and the barbs, would that be okay? Do you think they would have fin nipping problems too? If so, I'll just take the puffer out and bring it to my mom's house. My husband will only let me have two tanks at the house right now, so that is why I wanted to put the betta in with the tetras and the barbs.

Any help is much appreciated!!! Thanks!!! :hey:

Okay, since 17 people have read this and no one has replyed, my guess is that it is either fine to do, or none of you know either...

I'll keep checking back. I guess if I don't get any answers before I get too impatiant I'll just move them and wait and see what happens. :dunno:

Ok then, I'll have a go at this..

In my view, with the puffer in the tank, both the puffer and the barbs are at risk from each other. Take the puffer out and put the betta in with the barbs, and it's bye bye betta fins.

Tell your husband who's boss and get another tank!

I am not familiar enough with the types of fish you're asking about, so I can't help you. I just want to point out though that if people aren't responding it's probably because of one of two reasons, 1)they don't know either, so they're not going to post just to say they don't know 2) they are lurkers, alot of people read forums but don't get involved in posting, they just come for the info and entertainment (nothing wrong with that) so that would be the reason for views but no responses. So don't take it personally and be patient, eventually one of the people who do know the type of fish you have and do post, will see the post and respond, but it may be a few hours or even a day or 2 as not everybody lives at their computer and reads posts the second they are posted. Have some patience :)
