Tropica Substrate

I think the title says it all.

I'm planning to use tropica's substrate on my new 450ltr tank and would like to know if it's possible to use it with sand.

Anybody have any thoughts?

You can put anything over the top. The trouble with sand is that it'll mix with the tropica substrate over time. There is something called a gravel tidy which keeps the two separate but I've not heard of anyone using one in a planted tank. It might restrict root growth but dont know for sure.
