Tropica coming to the U.S.

Well when it comes to plants and aquascaping the U.S. lags behind the rest of the world, certainly behind Europe and Asia.
Now the U.S. Will have direct access to Tropica tissue culture planta grown at a Tropica facility in Georgia. From what I hear potted plants are a possibility in the future. That was previously not possible as any imported plants must come in as bare root.

I'm sure their aquariums are nice, but much like all the other low iron rimless tanks, out of my price range.

I know there have been efforts to ditch the wool and pot plants. I think they are trialling clip plants in the European market. I'm yet to find any retailers here though.

I saw those somewhere, maybe it was the Tropica website but at the time it didn't really click in my head.
I suppose the "clip" is the disposable pot without the pot. I can see the advantage if they are grown submerged. Tissue culture plants take a long time to convert to submerged growth.

I did not realise what a pain the blasted rockwool is to remove. So fiddly and lose a good few roots!

After breaking off the big pieces, I use a fork to scrape them off while underwater. I would suggest gloves, as that material can be irritating to get off your hands.

I have the vague memory they were once in both the US and certainly in Canada - in Vancouver. They went under years ago, but they were available.

Never again will I glue moss, too much hassle for a outcome. A simple cotton thread and some patience for it to attach itself to the surface.
