After getting some Tropica vallis mini twister and some utricularia graminifolia last week I decided to try some pogostemon helferi, it seems well suited to my 15-gallon tank which so far has little ground covering. It arrived today, seemingly expensive at £5.95 per pot. I ordered a single pot. After carefully stripping off the rock-fibre I have in excess of 10 plants. The same went for my vallis, two pots gave me well over 20 individual plants (plus some runners already shooting). I am now concerned that I am becoming addicted, I found it hard not to buy loads of other plants, even though to be truthful I don't really need them....

I have read peoples' raving about how good Tropica plants are. I can fully appreciate these comments now, I have been very surprised with the number of plants provided for the money, I am fairly convinced that whilst they may seem expensive in comparison with other suppliers the sheer number of plants supplied in each pot make them at least as good value for money as anything else.

I do keep getting snails on the plants though, strange given that they are supposedly treated to remove snails....ah well.

thats odd about the snails, where did you get them from? could be that tropica treat them and send them out to various suppliers, and they then stick them in a snail infested tank before they come to you.

i've always got them from AE and never had snails :dunno:

Mine have always been from AE aswell (OK, all of both times!). Not really a huge concern, but curious non-the-less.

I know what you mean, it's hard to stop buying more Tropica plants, I have made 4 orders in the last 3 months!

I received four Tropica pots of Rotala sp "Nanjenshan" today which were very disappointing. They were going to replace my Ludwigia arcuata, but they are a long way off of being well enough and of sufficient mass to do this. Not happy!

My first order was great, my second very poor. And they are not cheap. I do most of my ordering off Greenline and have never been disappointed with them.

Dave.

Yes I gotta admit aswell I was disappointed in my tropica plants from AE in fact any online mail order company that sells tropica palnts because theyre no different from the ones in my lfs size or quality wise but they charge double the price....... Its not like the plants they sell are rare or hard to get because If there was any I needed id just ask my lfs to order them in for me and they would like I said cost half the price.

I just buy off greenline now for the likes of quick growing plants like vallis and hygrophila and buy crypts and swords from tropica at my lfs on a Thursday because thats the day they get them in theyre always fresh.

Of course though if I was after something big Id have no hesitation in ordering from the mother plant collection on AE theyre defiantly worth the money they charge.

i think tropica are really good for the money link nry said its dear but you get alot of plants however they are a little shorter than i thought

however when i wet to the lfs there plants looked great (I needed a few more as i didnt have enough) but once in my tank the looked like they had been thrown around

but tropica quaility is the best even from p@h if you get them before the algea gets to them

will be buying more at a later date
