Hi All,
I have a 4ft tank with a trickle filter built in...
Once the water leaves the tank it goes through 3 stages... firstly it goes through filter wool,
Secondly it goes through the bioballs and finally it goes through a sponge then is pumped back to the tank..
Should there be any other type of media? and is this setup ok for a tropical tank?
Thank's for any help

This filter you are describing sounds like a HOB for hang on back. I've used them before and would definetly reccomend them for tanks up to 55 gallons. With all of the HOB filters that I have owned they only need 3 different types of media 1 for chemical, 1 for mechanical and 1 for bioligical, therefore I think you'll be fine. How many gallons is the tank?

Soz about this but have checked and mine is not a HOB (Hang on back),
mine actually hase a sump under the tank in the cupboard it also has an eheim pump that pumps the water back into the tank..
also i have a brass looking pyston pump, does anyone know the best way to oil it etc?

Cheers

Mark H

ps:will try to get some picks if it will help..
