I recently stared at my blue acara and saw white dots on his fins. My assumption is that he has ick or some type of parasite. There are no other spots on the other fish and they're all fine. I dont want the ick to spread to the others. Whats the best method to cure this epidemic? Pls respond thank you

could well be white spot. can you post a picture?
im sorry but my camera has been broken for a while and i havent replaced it but the fish has definitely ick. Its on his tail and dorsal fin. Do you know any good remedies to cure him. Also i dont have a QT tank so i cant separate him.

treating the whole tank is not always a good idea, but seeing as you have no choice you will have too. ive never had an ick problem so ive never actually bought any meds for it. maybe get a product called Quick Cure by Aquarium Products. read the instructions carefully and treat for as long as it states for maximum effectiveness.

I cured Ick twice b4. If ur positive that its Ick then u can raise the temp 81-84 degrees, as much as your fish can handle, the eggs of the parasites that they drop on the substrate can't tolerate that temperature, u can add some airstones to give ur fish more oxygen while medicating the tank. There's less oxygen on high temperatures that's why.

I used "Ick-Ease" as well if the heating method isn't enough, careful tho it is pretty harmful to scaleless fish, like catfish. They usually just use half-dose if there's scaleless fish in tank. That's why I just try the heating method if its enough.
