I am really wanting/ needing (!!) to pick up a bunch of amano shrimp next weekend. Unfortunately, the GREAT store I can get them at is about a 4 hour drive away (I'm there for the weekend anyways), and NOT open on the day I will be leaving to drive home. That eliminates the possibility of transporting them directly from store tank to home tank.

So can I safely, with care, keep them in an unheated environment for 24-30 hours? I can pick them up sunday afternoon, and even aerate with an airstone, but I don't have an extra heater to bring with me. I'm not sure how temperature sensitive the little guys are...

its a likely and unlikely that they would die. 50 50 chance. just dont go crazy on the bumps and air conditioner. it also depends if the cage is cramped. i would recommend at least a gallon in the cage. i took these spiny perch from corpus to austin and back and they were fine.

They're shipped in the mail to get to your LFS... so most likely they will be ok..

If you keep the temp pretty stable, and use an air stone, your chances are pretty good..

I've used slurpee cups when I've bought fish and wasn't coming home the same day... I did a couple water changes a day though.

I actually kept 2 1'' convicts in a slurpee cup for over 24 hours without an air stone, and they were fine.
