So... I will be delivering my guppies to their new home today! Its only a couple of miles away, but I was wondering what would be best to transport them in.
I have 5 gallon bucket that I use for water changes that I was thinking about using. Or I have a cooler. A small igloo cooler with the flip down lid....
Would either of those be better than the other?
The 5 gallon doesn't have a lid. But I figured it'd be OK because it will only be filled like 1/2 way or less....

How many guppies do u want to transport? For a few minutes it doesn't matter. I usually take a small plastic back. The only important thing is that the water temp does not drop too low during transport.

Use the cooler.

Then you'll have less to worry about from temperature drops and jumping fish. If you do use the bucket, tie a plastic bag or towel over the top.

I use a cooler for transporting fish with the lid down its dark and keeps the stress levels down, also it keep the water temperature pretty much the same :)

Since its winter out, I was going to have my car running for a few minutes, so the heat will be warm when I take them!
And I'm taking a lot of guppies! Like... 50+... if I can bare to let them all go! (And if I can find all the babies!)

go to your local pet store and ask for some plastic bags and ask if you dont already know how to bag the fish i rekon no more than 4 or 5 fish a bag and make sure theres plenty of air in it are you giving up fish keeping.

The closest LFS is about 45 minutes away...
And I'm not giving up on the fish. Just the guppies! Running out of room, and just want a couple medium/ big fish...

oh ok gladd ur not quitting keepin them and have you any bags from when u have bought fish i kerp mine and the bands together they come in handy

No bags... they normally get thrown away within a few days of buying the fish.
Hopefully the bucket or cooler will be fine. Like I said... its only a few miles away. It will only take me about 5 minutes or so to get there.
The hard part is going to be finding all these babies!
