okay i have searched this on here and can see a lot of threads to do with this already,

However i am looking at making a large wooden box with polystyrene or similar inserts and wondering if anyone else has done this?

I am looking at moving house september time and just wanted to work out a good way to transport my fish and also if i buy fish from a shop i would like to make sure they get to my tank in the best condition possible.

Has anyone built a box? i was looking through a book i have which had a box the author had made and it got me thinking!

Thanks

You can often get styros for free from your lfs, they usually just toss these when shipments come in. A cheap styrofoam cooler works just as well. If you keep the shipping container in your car no heat packs or any such thing are needed in colder weather.

If the fish are small then just bag them like when u buy them in a shop.
2-4 small fish to a bag unless their nippy.
If their gonna be bagged for several hours then 1 fish to a bag.
Place then in a poly box or a cool box (as this will help to keep warm too).

If their large fish then just place them in a water tight poly box and tape down as their water tight, or use a large bag to seal the inside first.

Don't forget to make sure much of the volume in the bag is air. It is an easy mistake to think that more water is better but the water needs to be enough to cover the fish and you need lots of air in the bag to keep the water oxygenated.
