Transporting big fish

When moving large fish i advise adding a few oxygenating tablets to each bag before you seal them up, you should be able to buy the tablets from the lfs for a couple of quid or so. I wouldnt advise using binliners to carry the fish in case the plastic is not fish safe, if possible find a fish store that specialises in koi and ask to buy some of their jumbo bags from them, they normally charge about 12 pence per bag. If a bag does not fill the box completely stabilise it by adding bags inflated with air either side of it to keep them upright, also when filling the bags with water remember 1/3 water and 2/3 air to allow the maximum surface area possible within the bag.

I asked my bro to measure then van up to make sure, but there's the sliding side door in the garge (his work partner slived it open on a skip!!) which measures tad over 3ft so byt doing some simple maths I worked out that it should fit in with a few inches spare.

Heh I forgot about koi bags!! I'll ask my LFS if he has them as he did have some bigger koi and sturgeon, not sure if my LFS has the oxygen tablets though, will have to go round others to get supplies!!

What kind of grouping should I do with the fish?

I'm think the plecs togther, a few gourami in a few bags, the silver shark in 1 bag, the RTBS in 1 bag, borwn catfish in a bag, then Don't know the rest... :\ I'll have a week after buying to get the stuff ready though.

Well it will just me me and my bro going there, and the seller said they would assist shifting it around!!

Where in Essex are you Paul?

(Oh, and which is your lfs?)............

........and where in Surrey......my mother in Law lives in Surrey (Sutton)......so know the journey well.....

.....and, no....Bucks is not on the way unless you go North round the M25 instead of over the bridge...... :D

I'm in kirby cross which is near to colchester and clacton!!

Well Apyher Aquatics is my local as from the 1st September as the guy there bought it off Betta Aquatics which used to be my local!!

Urm on the auction it says Kenley in Surrey, I'ved been using multimap directions thingy to get the route :)

You can get the oxygenating tablets from Pets at Home!!!

oh Ava banana how long does the drive take you?

My dad decided to chuck in a random figure of 5 hours because of road works or summit?

Aaah, Kenley, near Croydon............

We travel from just north east of Chelmsford (Bicknacre) to Sutton........and it will take around 1 hr 15 mins (just over the hour on a really good day, more when there is traffic) .

When I moved my mrs out of her house there in a really old, slow, hired van........it took nearer two hours........don't go during rush hour...........don't go on a friday afternoon.

Have you won the auction yet then..................I couldn't find it on ebay..........

(no, I won't bid against you........my mother-in-law used to keep fish and I have another 3 tanks at her house that just need a little repair to be ready.......)

Ah ha not too bad then.

Haven't won yet it finishes at 13:45 on the 9th (tomorrow) I resisted from buying some travelling supplies like O2 tablets today until I win it.

It's gone up to £36 now, but I'ved held back on buying a new digi cam so I got plenty :D

Some might say it's a cheaters tool, but I've used it to win auctions loads of times, and it works well, but you might want to try auction sniper to win the auction for you.
You put in the max bid you're willing to pay, and then it places your bid for you with 3-5 seconds to spare at the end of the auction. That way the people sat there refreshing to make sure no one outbids them have got no chance!!!

You can find it here and if you are going to use it and are feeling nice, you can say I referred you my id is thingsandstuff29!!!

I had never heard of that rvm.........

.......so that is why it is so hard to win sometimes......................

.......what happens if a few people use it at the same time on the same thing?

lol cheers rvm, i might give it a go but if my budget is high enough I never lose an auction!! :p

I'm the typethat refreshes up until the end then bids in the last minute

I suppose the person that put the most in would win then.

Has gone up a tad from whenI first found it, it's at £51 now.......I'm gonna have to put a bit into it aswell to get it running sweet!! another filter, lighting, plants all the decor, but then again i have to think of it that I don't have to stock it :D

It goes to the highest bidder. and Paul, that is the exact thing that auction sniper is designed to beat. they have their clock synchronised with ebays so it bids exactly 5 seconds before the end (you can adjust it to 1 second, but I think that is a bit tight).
As long as you bid more you will win the auction without entering a bidding war and unessecarily pushing up the price. There is nothing I hate more on eBay than watching 2 people keep outbidding each other when there is still 5 days left on an auction and just pushing up the price to stupid levels. I never bid on anything until the last minute of the auction; there's no point!!
Although I like it when it happens on my auctions though!!!!

Hey I just checked the auction. Is that you that won it?? I hope so!!

EDIT: I just checked the bid history and saw it's not you. Gutted mate. Sorry you lost out. There'll be plenty more on ther though!! :/

There you go that is what Auction Sniper is for. The person that won had time to see your bid and then outbid you. Never would've happened with a Snipe!!! :D
Sorry you lost it though mate, if I see any more like it; you'll be the first to know!!
