Im going to be traveling for 2 hours or so to get my fish home...... How do i get them back without the water becoming too cold? Do i take a quarentene tank ? Are heaters mains powered?
you could pack them in a freezer box or bag, they're insulated so as well as keeping things cold they will also keep them warm. you can use paper or towels to keep the bags from rolling around and all should be good for a couple of hours.
I use one of those ice boxes, meant to keep your drinks cool during summer. I sometimes travel 5 hours between two cities and I carry some fishes with me. Just bag them with lots of air, then keep them in the ice box - it works for me.
Most LFS's round my way have signs suggesting you tell someone if you have a long way to drive, then they pack the fish in polystyrene (sp?) boxes. If yours dont offer that service (phone before you go?) then do as suggested and take a cooler. And once you get there, tell them it would be useful if they offered that service
