Hi' all ,

My parents have got a tank(looks like an arcadia tank probs about 40-60litre) and it's been running a wile with a couple of fish in there (4/5 months) however the filters only small(100lph output) and now theyve decided to add a couple more fish , i've got them to buy a new filter and run it along side the current one. My parents are really fussy and want just one filter in there as it doesnt look nice. I've got a fluval 2 filter on mine can i just take the foam pads out and cut them to size so they fit my parents new filteR? Presume i'll just need to put them in a container of tank water for the 15minute journey to their house?

Yeah just keep the filter media wet and you should be fine. Just squash the mature filter media in any way it'll fit and you'll be fine.

Cheers , will do that , the only thing i noticed that i forgot to mention is that the filter my parents have, has a sponge and a little bit cut out with some black plastic bits are they needed?

What filter have they got and what are they getting?

I guess the black plastic bits are used to locate the filter pads into the filter housing so as long as they're not needed in the new filter you're ok to loose them.

not sure of the branding not a large brand , think it was about £20 for a 350l turnover filter. the previous was 9.99 so pretty small.

I'll transfer it all accross tomorrow , should save cycling their new filter.
