Fred and the Fredettes
I am setting up my Rio 300 today and moving all the community fish from the 170 litre to the 300 litre
It has a mature external in the 170 which is going into the 300, but as i move the fish from the 170 to the 300 i am also adding some more fish which i have guaranteed for the last week, so the bio load will go up by about 25%
I have the normal Juwel internal for the new Rio 300 and i was going to use 50% new media and take 50% from my mature Malawi Tank
The tank is also Massively planted which helps the filtration and water readings
ISSUE
Transferring media between tanks
no signs of illness or any problems in the Malawi tank where i want to life the mature sponges from, BUT i always get nervous with my community tank, as i actually find my guppies and platies to be the most delicate fish i have ever owned
If one tank "appears" perfectly healthy is the risk negligible in terms of transferring media?
I just wondered if the influx of "new" bacteria would cause a reaction to my fussy live-bearers?
