Tragic Accident. Close Your Lids

I am utterly devistated because of my own stupid fault. I have lost one of my beloved young koi tonight Mr Bumble, a gorgous gold and black stripped male koi. He was due to go in the spring to a pond as he was around 9". I had done a wc on the tank today and didnt put the heavy ornaments on the lid, his tank is in the conservatory and I didnt hear a thing. I found him at 8pm tonight bleeding heavily where jumped out of the tank and he had hit the concrete floor, there was nothing I could do for him but set him free.

RIP Mr Bumble my gorgous lad

Really sorry, we all make mistakes! I remember when our pleco(i was about 3) jumped out the bucket and got a dog hair stuck through it It lived for a month or so after but then it died all because my mom forgot to put the lid over the bucket.

So sorry for your loss. i know just how you feel but don;t blame yourself too much. At leas t he hd a happy life with you. We've all done it. I lost one of my golden rudd last winter during a water change. It jumped and knocked itself out and I was unable to revive it.They were my very first fish and I was devastated.

Sorry to hear. I've been lucky enough that none of my fish have escaped. They don't really jump much though. I'm sure I would be devastated to see one of my fish lying on the floor.

Losing a fish is horrible, especially when it's from jumping out of the tank. Try not to blame yourself too much - these things happen sometimes.
