oh ok only asking soz i wont next time, i thought it would be handy to have someone whos an expert at this, o nthe side incase another prob pops up and i need urgent reply, but nm
i dont have a ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph. tester
Not being nasty just don't like giving my email address out to people i don't know, just pm me i don't mind.
Wanted to know your stats as if they are not good, she won't be able to breath in that water with having no aeration in there.
but shes breathing from the water level, and also her breathing has become a bit more heavyer, no correction her mouth is openning alot wider than it did
also is it wise for me to have the light off (main tank light)
Right i would mix abit of fresh declorinated water up and add it to her bowl, with not knowing your stats.
When you have changed abit of her water with fresh, turn tanks lights out best thing to do when a fish is stressed, just keep a close eye on her, as she dosn't sound to good.
Plus i would invest in a master test kit, i will get you a link.
I would leave her in the bowl for now, if she makes it, yes you will have to rehome the male as he will do it again, and i wouldn't add any new fish till she gets well.
did you use aquarium salt or table salt? if you used table salt, change that water immediately and don't put any more in. table salt is bad for fish. i believe it's the iodine, though i'm not positive.
also, i know gouramis are labyrinth fish, but i have never seen mine take air from the surface, unlike my bettas. is it possible the surface gulping is related to a lack of oxygenation in the bowl water?
