Is it ok to have a small torch coral in my nano tank?? then once it gets a little bigger put it in my main tank????

Depends on the lighting, how much space it will have and what else you have in there.

I have kept a fairly large hammer coral (not the same I know but similiar enough in regards to the conditions it needs) in a 14g nano with less then ideal PC lighting. Its been in there for probably close to 6 months now and is loads bigger then when I got it.

I think however that it was responsible for killing off a finger leather though which was fairly close to it so I think the space between it and your other corals is going to be something to consider.

From what I have read you should be ok otherwise assuming you have halfway decent light and water flow.

Hi thanks for the reply! , space isnt a problem its only as big as a10p coin at the moment! and its got a hole coner to its self! no other magor corals in there! lighting is white/blue 18W
good flow :good:

Your perfectly fine keeping them in a nano...if it gets too large, you can do as you have said, but i would frag it, then sell it or you can move it to somewhere else in your tank :good:

i brought it with two heads? its like two bits of rock stuck togeather!?? shud i brake em apart? or will this hurt the coral?

For the moment I would leave it as it is. I'm not 100% sure so double check but yeah I think when you frag them you basically just cut between the heads.

Yeah, i'd leave it for a couple of months, let it get settled in before you go fragging it. Torch corals are pretty hard to acclimatise too as they can be prone to brown jelly, so i'd leave it, dont wanna be stressing it too much.
If the heads are far apart, it is easy to frag as you just break it off where they divide.

I've got one in my Nano, (see thread pics) seems to be doing just fine at the moment, Give a bit of clearance around the coral.
