I'm thinking of getting some top dwelling shoaling fish but all that comes to mind are hatchet fish. What else is there??

I guess they don't have to be shoaling fish so anything really that spends almost all it's time on the surface.

Halfbeaks or Panchax are a nice unusual choice.

killifish are so beautiful :D Panchax they are part of the killi family right? The only one I know for certain that I can get is the Golden panchax "Pachypanchax playfairii". I heard they have a really short lifespan though only a year or so??

I think the halfbeaks are really unusual. Now if I can find them around here is another question

Great question elisabeth83. I have to write these down. What do you want to put them with?

you can also try some rainbows. the (dwarf) neon blue rainbow stays small about 2 to 2.5 inches they are schooling fish and only occupy the top part of the aquarium. they are beautifull fish with blue iridescent bodys, the male has red fins and the female has yellow fins. I have a school of 10 in my 300L. they do like to open space to swim in. You could easily put 2 or 4 into a 30gal depending on what else you have in there already.

Oh the dwarf neon rainbows are gorgeous!! I just went to a fish shop and they had only one so I got 6 diamond tetras instead. I bought some King tetras yesterday but they didn't work out so I returned them today. With the pair of kribs and 6 diamond tetras could I still add 2-4 of the rainbows? Their colors were just

i think you could definitly get away with 4 dwarf rainbows...the tank is cycled correct? dwarf rainbows, although small, due produce a lot of waste...your tank would be completely stocked if you got a school of rainbows...no pleco or any other poop machine could be added safely there after, IMO

I'm not sure about the rainbows then if they are so messy -_-

I want the tank to look balanced and complete but at the moment it definitly doesn't with just the kribs and diamond tetras.

I need something but I dont know what....

Hi Elizabeth,

I would highly recommend a group of nannostomus eques if you can get them, they are also known as brown tailed pencil fish and rocket tailed pencil fish, 3 striped pencil fish or tube mouthed pencil fish they spend most of their time hovering around the top of the tank and only grow a couple of inches. I have a group of 3 and would like to get more but haven't seen any for a while.

Heres a link with a good picture of them it doesn't have a lot of info though. http://www.usefilm.com/image/315991.html

Hope this helps

Emma

Don' know if they ship to GB or Sweden, but LiveAquaria.com carries your nannostomus eques. There is also good couple of paragraphs about the species.
