I was just wondering if it is possible to put too much oxygen into a tank (well, I imagine it is, so Im really asking if Im putting too much in)

I have two of those Aqua Tech power filters 20/40 that come in the 29gallon tank setups. I have two of the setups but only have one running, so to keep the bacteria alive and because I heard the filers in the kits arent good enough anyway, I stuck them both on (that ok?)

Then I have an up-to-20gallon sponge filter, again in there to keep the bacteria alive, running on an up-to-60 gallon whisper air pump. This air pump is split into two and also has a bubble wand attached. I turned the bubbles on each down a little bit though, since they were coming out pretty strong.

So, do you guys think this is too much? 2 filters, sponge filter, bubble wand. Would you reccomend taking one of them out?

Oh, and I plan to keep this tank a guppy and swordtail tank, no live plants because I have the absolute worst luck with live plants, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

Nah, you'll be fine. Excess oxygen in humans creates a euphoric feeling and I extremely doubt that it would have an adverse effect on fish. You also must remember that water holds a lot less oxygen than air does so I don't think you'll have a problem.

Altho, I would like to see some fish that are getting so much oxygen that they are in a REALLY REALLY good mood all the time!

do you have an O2 test kit?
a good level of O2 in tanks is 30ppm

too much O2 can lead to something called gas bubble disease.
it is rare and easy to treat.

Also the higher the temp of water the less O2 it can sustain, if you are worried about O2 being high raise the temp a few degrees.

Oh, I didnt even know there was an 02 kit lol, Ill go get one of those. Im treating for ich right now so the temp in my tank is high, about 80/82, so I guess the extra oxygen is actually good? Cool :)
