Ok so i've set up a new planted tank its 178ltr bowfront

In it there are 2 koralia 1s and a ehiem 2217 so thats 4000ltr/ph turnover but i dont think its creating good enough circulation.

I have another 6000lph powerhead in another tank.

So my question is:
To help with circulation i could swap a koralia for the 6000lph power head which would give me 8500lph turnover (nearly x48 turnover) would this be way to much?

It sounds to me like to much but i could be wrong.

Wow. 48x turnover! And I thought the possibility of 19x turnover in mine was crazy!

Have you tried moving the koralias around? To see what the effect is?

48x!! That'll be like watching water going down a plughole!

I agree with Cazzie, have a move around of the Koralia.

I have moved the koralias but i dont think they are actualy pumping out 1500lph they were used in a marine tank and i got them second hand.
Maybe ill try move them around again and see if i can get better circulation.

Heres a pic

In the pic it looks like they are competing with each other but the one on the right is directed towards the back. In the pic it looks like its going straight across

they need cleaning! If the grills are blocked they will slow down. Take em out and give em a good soak, you also have to remember with all that stuff rotting away on them that they will cause ammonia spikes.

Grills are clean. I cleaned them yesterday after planting(pic was takin before i cleaned them and removed floating leaves and bits)
Theres no stock in it so would an ammonia build up cause problems? I thought plants could use ammonia.

I dont think theres enough circulation because the bubbles from the co2 are not staying in the flow long enough to be dissolved

Maybe you need to change your method of CO2 dispersal rather than increase circulation? What are you using at the moment?

Um, the UP atomizers are pretty good. The Boyu ones are also an alternative.

Also would this do an eheim 2217 http://wap.ebay.co.uk/Pages/ViewItem.aspx?aid=370228714990&sv=Co2%20%20Atomizer&emvcc=0

I can't comment on the spray bar, I know the UP atom are good for dispersing C02, however, i really don't like the cloud it produces. There are those new airstones on the market as well. They produce tiny weeny bubbles. Obviously the smaller bubble the quicker dispersed. I'll have a look around for one.
