I have a 30 gallon tank and need a new power filter. I know the Penguin 200 is rated for 50 gallon, and the Penguin 350 is for 75. Would the 350 be a little too much for my 30 gallon tank, or is it pretty much impossible to "over-filter" ? It's just a basic warm water tropical tank BTW.

It is basically impossible to overfiltrate, but you can have too much current, depending what fish you have. Easiest way to kill the current is to point the filter to the tanks wall.

I agree with the above post. You can't over filter, but you can have too much current. I have a peguin 350 in a 55 gallon tank and find that it throws a pretty good current. I think it would be too strong for a 30 gallon. The penguin 200 you mention would probably be a better choice. Unless you are going to get a larger tank in the future, you might as well save some money on the filter and get one that's sized closer to what you are going to get.
