my platy gave birth to 90 frys a few months ago in my 30gal tank and 11 of them were golden guppies!

Surely then it was your platy and guppy that gave birth?

mind you 79 platy fry is a great drop, poor thing, did she survive?

bet she was massive

surely you not suggesting the guppy bred with the platy.................if so not possible

guppies can not breed with playies under any circumstances, they have a complete different genus, guppies can breed with mollies, platies can breed with swordtails but thats it, how long have you had her? i'm thinking she was pregnant when brought

seems odd that many died so quick

what are you water stats?
tank size and stocking?
new decore/fish/etc?
any visible disease?
flicking/rubbing?

she was not pegnant when i bought her, but when i put the guppy in the tank, her abdomen was getting bigger and bigger every day, so i put her in a breeding tank for 2 day and when i came in my room there were 85 fry swimming and 5 egg but the egg hatch anyway :shout:

flicking and rubbing is not good, can be whitespot, ick, velvet and many other things, how big are the fry? seems a lot for a 10 gal, need the figures of water stats i'm afraid only way to help

30 of them were almost fully grown

thats bad, 30 fully grown platies in a 10 gal, probably an ammonia problem then which is deadly to fish so should always be 0, did you cyle the tank before addibng fish?
