I have 3 tanks that I need to keep warm tonight. I only have 1 heater and it's in my fry tank. Not the smartest move on my part.

It just started getting cold this week. My tanks were at 75 yesterday morning. Today they were at 65. This is too cold for tropical fish. I have 3 heaters on the way, but they wont be here until next week. Ordering them online with the fastest shipping possible is cheaper than the LFS and I'm on a budget.

How do I keep my tanks warm (especially at night) until I get the heaters? Something not too expensive perhaps?
Thank you so much!
Nikki

turn the heating up a bit - put a heater in that room, wrap them in a blanket and leave the light on for a little longer than usual...

also i would put the heater in the coldest tank overnight

As above, wrap them in as many blankets you have, and if bubble wrap if possible, and position a fan heater or oil filled radiator in that room, again if you have one :good:

or breathe heavily in there for a few hours...

The tanks are in my bedroom which is in the back half of the house. When the house was built, the back was a screened in porch. The man that owned the house before us closed it off to make 3 rooms. He put up cinder blocks and covered them in drywall. he didn't put any insulation up. And the air ducts don't reach to my room (because a porch doesn't need air conditioning). In the summer it's extremely hot and in the winter it's extremely cold. I can put the space heater in there tonight to keep the room temp above 70 but my tanks would still be at 68 or so. would wrapping them in blankets or towels help?

yesyesyesyesyes they will!!!!! and put the heater in as well!!!

Bag the fry and float them in the largest tank and then add the heater and insulate them all.

+2 that is if your fish are compatible. If not still do the fry thing in largest tank and put heater in there but insulate both tanks and insulate the non-heated one even better, then use that space heater.

Lol   of course he did blubble. That's exactly what he did. Cause he'd waste all the time and effort to get out his brain washing materials so he could steal your ideas. Lol. :fun:

Someone had suggested to me that if you light a few tealigh candles and place them under your tank (if possible) about 4-6 inches from the bottom of the tank, it will at least keep the bottom third of the tank warm so the fish have a cozy place to go.

and also risk breaking the glass or starting a fire...

Just noticed the stocking lists of your tanks in your profile, platys will be fine at 65F, (They're kept in the coldwater tank sat work) and realistically guppys should be too depending on well bred they are. The tank with the neons and dwarf gourami is most at risk,

That is why you keep them away from the bottom of the tank. You wouldn't have them closed in either, and the cold air would keep it from getting too warm. This is the method that a friend of mine used with her tank, an it works. Just passing on some good tips from an avid fishkeeper.
