Okay so I was thinking of ALL the possible things that could have caused Toggle (my black moor goldy) to sit at the bottom of the tank and not move, not even for food! So I remembered I added a little slice of orange as the LFS said they need vitamin C in their diets and a slice of orange would be okay to put in the tank. So I looked it up online and saw pictures of oranges with them and read a little bit about it and thought Toggle would love it! So I dropped a small piece of orange in and he totally ignored it. Then after like 10 minutes I checked on him and he was sitting at the bottom of the tank not moving at all.
So I removed the orange and he remained in that one spot all night and all morning. So I emptied out his whole tank while he took a 20 minute salt bath and rinsed everything in warm water really good and boiled what I could. I threw almost all of his decorations away and basically started over. I added the gravel from my cycled 55 gallon to his tank. I didn't rinse the filter off or clean that really well, but I think I got it clean enough. So I waited for the temp to get just right and then floated him in a bag for awhile and slowly acclimated him for about 20-30 minutes.
He is swimming around now and being more active than he was yesterday. But I caught him going to the bathroom and about 3 cms of it was clear with kind of a slight green tint and then about 3 cms was green and then the rest was brown.
Is this parasites? What can I treat it with? Should I just stick with the daily 20 minute salt baths?
