I'm aware that these fellas I have are pretty gobby when given food in the sense that there mouths are huge

Could you keep Dragon Gobys with them or is it just a no no because of the toadfish

Alos what salt measure would you recommend. Mine seem to be doing fine at quite a low level couldn't say off top of head but know level on salinity measurer.

Always err on the side of caution with toad fish, they can eat amazing large prey, if you have the slightest feeling they might eat a fish then they probably will, mine have eaten moray eels, puffer fish, monos and gobies when i have thought they couldnt.

I keep my tank at around the 1.010 mark and they seem to thrive.

Cheers CFC

I read your old post after posting this thread and noticed what yours had eaten!!!

I'll raise my salinity a tad then just in case its too low now as I know you've had yours a while

I never see Dragon Gobys anyway although some Mogurnda Mogurnda were advertised as such in my LFS this week!!

My toadfish are gulping earthworms down at the moment I need them to get more into lancefish as I suspect the worms are not enough nutritionally

Cheers again

How big are the toadfish and how big are the gobies?

My toadfish are about 7 inches and very chunky. I haven't got any gobies but may look out for some at about the same size

I woudent if I was you. The gobies are quite thin, and no matter what lenght they are, I think the toadfish would eat them at the size they are.

Judging by the way they gulp large lancefish I'd probably agree with you was just wondering about a big goby but I suppose it would be too much of a risk

my toadfish ate 2 gobies about 2/3rds its length.

I also woke up one morning to see an inflated puffer staring back at me from in its mouth.

I managed to get a pic of the more adventurous one pre worm eating!!

Yep my fiances did the same, ate a breeding pair of knight gobies 2/3s of his length. Also caught him one day trying to eat a puffer, the puffer would inflate but as soon as he'd deflate the toadfish would try to eat him a bit more. Luckily my fiance managed to poke him and get him to spit out the puffer.

His likes eating prawns alot.
