:angry:I have bought 10 female guppies for my 5 cobra male guppies and they have all breed and made about 100-150 baby fry and I do not know what to do!!!!!!!

Mmm - I'm a bit unsure about what to suggest. If its a guppy only tank, there simply won't be any predators and they only way they will die is from overcrowding. And if you do get a predator, it's likely to make a meal of your adult guppies as well.

Can you give any to your fish store? Or you might want to post in the Buy, Sell, And Swap section here, and see if anyone wants some, once they get older.

You're probably going to have a lot more babies though. You may want to try seperating the males and females. I have done this with no problem, but you'll have to watch that the males don't pick on each other. Hiding places, and plants help this some. But it really depends on the temperment of the males.

Of course, seperating them won't do too much about the fry population for a while, because the females can have up to 7 batches of fry, from just one mating.

As Bloozoo said, you could put a predator in there. Some fish will just eat the fry, and won't be big enough to eat the adults. The parents will sometimes eat the fry when they are small too.

Are there any other fish in the tank with the fry, or just the fry?

I only have the guppies in my 40-45 litre tank. I might get my ram back from the pet store, that might act as a preditor I'm not really sure. At the moment I have the fry in 2 breeding float tanks.

Genrally rams don't act as a preditor, try your lfs and If they can take them ,great, if not try the selling section or friends :fun: ;)

You will need to do something as you are already overstocked with 10 female and 5 male guppies in a 40-45 litre tank (8-9 gallons). I would ask the lfs if they will take them for free or against store credit. Even if you do not get paid, you will at leat be saving your adult fish.

where abouts are you cobra ? i am sure you could rehome them in the buy/sell/swap, i rehomed some babies in there and they are lovely !

I have put most of the fry in the normal tank and I have aranged that I will give my femalesback to the pet store for a while so that things get back into place
thanks for the help!!!! :D
